Oxford City FC of Texas Builds Roster with More Texas Talent
 

BEAUMONT, Texas

Oxford City FC of Texas held open tryouts on the weekend of September 20th. The trial brought in players from a very diverse background and reflects the ethnicity of the Golden Triangle.

One player, Pedro Montes, was born in Caracas, Venezuela and moved to the USA at the age of 13. He put ink to paper and signed his contract after the trial. "With this opportunity in my hands, I hope it can turn into bigger things for my soccer future." Montes currently attends Lone Star College and played for the Venezuelan Under 12 national team before moving to the states.

Another player signed after showing his attacking prowess at the trial was Jeminson Mejia. Mejia was born in Tela, Honduras and moved to Houston at the age of 11. He currently plays for Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. Mejia played professionally for the Austin Capitals of the former Professional Arena Soccer League.

Oxford City FC of Texas also strengthened their roster with the signing of Angelo Sanchez. Angelo was born in Bogota, Colombia until relocating to Houston, Texas at the age of 13. He played high school soccer and Division 1 College Soccer at Houston Baptist University. Also a staff member and licensed trainer for the Dynamo soccer club, Angel aspires to continue to play at the highest level while simultaneously strengthening his administrative and coaching curriculum.
